Matthew is a Researcher in the Clean Economy team at E3G’s Brussels Office. His research and stakeholder engagement activities cut across both the Place-Based Transitions and Climate-Neutral Energy Systems teams.

His work contributes to developing political momentum for improved energy efficiency of the building stock and decarbonisation of heating and cooling in EU Member States by bringing greater clarity on Member States’ challenges and opportunities into Brussels discourse.

Prior to joining E3G, he worked for four years as a Policy Advisor on EU environmental and social policy at Milieu Consulting.

He holds a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the Sorbonne in Paris and a BA in English Literature and French from Cardiff University.

In his free time, he enjoys long-distance hikes and cycle rides, experimenting with vegetarian cooking, getting his hands dirty making pottery and listening to podcasts about football.
