Deepak is E3G’s Senior Specialist based in India, advancing international cooperation between India and global partners on clean technologies, energy transition, green trade, and energy security.

He plays a key role in shaping strategic engagement at the intersection of climate policy, trade, and industrial transformation.

His work with E3G’s Global Clean Power Diplomacy team focuses on providing strategic insight and thought leadership on India’s energy transition and clean technology pathways, including analysis of free trade agreements to enable green trade and strengthen energy security. He leads high-level stakeholder engagement and partnership management to advance clean technology and green trade initiatives, while contributing to iron and steel decarbonisation efforts in India, in collaboration with E3G’s Clean Economy team. Deepak also drives research, communications, and the co-development and implementation of strategies, working closely with programme leadership to facilitate domestic, bilateral, and multilateral outcomes.

Prior to joining E3G, Deepak served as Programme Director (Policy) with National Green Hydrogen Mission at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India where he played a key role in designing and implementing regulations, standards, policies, and a range of initiatives to accelerate the growth of India’s Green Hydrogen ecosystem.

With over one and a half decades of experience across various organisations, including Government, multilateral, industry association and academic institutions spanning energy and climate policy, clean energy technologies, finance, green jobs and low-carbon ecosystem development, Deepak brings a proven track record of leading complex, high-impact initiatives across India at both national and sub-national levels. His career has been defined by advancing India’s energy transition through data-driven analysis, policy advocacy, multi-stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and cross-sector collaboration. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from a consortium of four European Universities, including the University of Manchester, UK; Central European University, Hungary; International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics, Sweden and Aegean University, Greece.
