Charlotte Liebrecht is a Researcher in the Energy Transition Team, conducting analysis on the global energy transition with a particular focus on global gas demand trends and on the transition of fossil fuel producing countries.

Her work includes carrying out data-driven and qualitative analysis and engaging with stakeholders across civil society, academia, governments, and EU institutions on the global gas landscape and the transition pathways of fossil-fuel producing countries towards more resilient economies. Her focus is on Northern Africa, Gulf countries and major gas-importing nations.

Previously, Charlotte worked as an intern in the EU Energy Team where she analysed the gas demand reduction trajectories of key EU Member States. Before joining E3G, Charlotte worked as a trainee at DG ENER, focusing on EU energy infrastructure. Prior to that, she worked for the public-sector consultancy Technopolis and for the House of International Relations in Montpellier.

She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Heidelberg in Political Science with a minor in Economics and is finishing her master’s degree in Political Science at the University of Vienna, with exchanges at the University of Montpellier I and Sciences-Po Paris.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, doing sports, and improving her crocheting skills.
