Susie Elks is a Senior Policy Advisor leading E3G’s work on power decarbonisation in the UK.

Her work focuses on forging coalitions and conducting research to help us accelerate the transition to a low carbon electricity system and capture the benefits for the UK. She works across the policy and politics, considering this challenge in the round, including areas such as market design, the interactions with consumers and system governance.

Susie has over 5 years’ experience working on the low carbon energy transition. She previously worked in the UK Government on the Review of Electricity Market Arrangements and on Demand Side Response policy. Prior to this, she worked across energy decarbonisation policy at the Energy Systems Catapult, taking a leading role in energy innovation projects and policy thought leadership. Her research interests lie in effective market design and system governance with a passion for ensuring policies deliver for people and the climate.

Susie holds a MEng in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham where she modelled energy system flexibility. 

Outside of work, Susie enjoys blowing off steam with a dance class or two – ask her which style it is this week. She also loves being outdoors and going for long hikes with friends.
