Karla Hill
Chief Programme Officer
Karla is E3G's Chief Programme Officer and a member of the E3G Executive Team and Board.

As Chief Programme Officer, Karla leads the delivery and strategic alignment of E3G’s global programme work, spanning five offices, 145 staff, and an international network of associates and partners. Her role supports impact through “One E3G” collaboration across programmes, communications, and business development. She also serves as deputy to the CEO.
Karla brings over 20 years of experience in climate change, energy, environment and governance, and has held senior leadership positions across the non-profit, public, and private sectors. She joined E3G in 2020 as Associate Director, where she led the development of E3G’s political economy and strategic intelligence work, building a diverse international team. She has overseen the successful delivery of London Climate Action Week for five consecutive years and established E3G’s flagship State of Climate Politics Forum. In the governance space, Karla led the development of E3G’s partnership with the International Climate Councils Network (ICCN), with E3G appointed as host of the network secretariat in 2023.
Prior to joining E3G, Karla was Global Programmes Counsel and Director of Programmes at public interest law group ClientEarth. Over more than a decade, she helped grow ClientEarth from a start-up into a 160-strong international organisation, shaping strategy, programmes, partnerships, and funding. Her work particularly focused on climate change, energy, strategic litigation, climate finance, and rule of law.
Karla served on the board of Greener UK, a coalition of 13 major UK environmental organisations between 2016 and 2020.
She holds law (honours) and geography degrees from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She has practised as a qualified lawyer in New Zealand and England.
Originally from New Zealand, Karla lives in London with her partner and two children.
