Ignacio’s key responsibilities include conducting research and analysis on the trade and climate nexus to inform E3G’s thought leadership and advocacy. He focuses particularly on carbon border adjustments, sustainable trade agreements and other external dimensions of industrial decarbonisations.
Prior to joining E3G, Ignacio worked as a Blue Book Trainee in the Cabinet of the EU´s High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell, where he followed the launch of the ‘Fit for 55’ package very closely, alongside other climate diplomacy files. Previously he worked as an Assistant at the European Policy Centre´s ‘Green Deal’ team and as a Public Affairs trainee at Kreab Spain. He also has humanitarian fieldwork experience in Lebanon and Burkina Faso.
Ignacio holds a Master´s in EU International Relations & Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe (Bruges) and a BA in European Social & Political Studies from UCL (London).
Ignacio is a keen cyclist who also loves football, cooking and reading history. He has a deep passion for the Mediterranean region, which he loves exploring both above and below the sea.
