The politics of the global gas transition

Natural gas is becoming the world’s fastest-growing fossil fuel. However, it is now clear that meeting the Paris Agreement climate targets will not be possible without tackling emissions from natural gas.

Untangling and managing the political economy of a transition away from gas will be complex and will present different challenges depending on geographies and actors.
