A group of over 50 businesses and related trade bodies who work on home upgrade installs, manufacturing and finance are calling on the government to honour their manifesto commitment to invest £13.2bn in the Warm Homes Plan.
In a joint letter to Rt Hon Darren Jones, Chief Secretary, the sector highlights that investing fully in the plan will create 12,000 new skilled roles, but that continuing with the level of investment set out in the 2024 Autumn Budget will lead to 3,000 job losses by 2027.
This Government has correctly made modernising the UK housing stock a central part of its mission to lower household bills, increase energy security, and grasp the opportunities in the transition to net zero. The £13.2bn promised in the 2024 manifesto is vital to help grow the businesses who help households lower their energy bills and increase the UK’s energy security
Businesses working on home upgrades are government’s ally to lower energy bills and make the UK more energy secure. To ensure the sector can continue to work effectively as partners, the government needs to uphold its manifesto commitment to invest £13.2bn in the Warm Homes Plan.
