COP 21 Day 5: Saudi problems and Bridging text

Political intrigue begins on Day 5

Late last night there was a discussion about whether the new agreement should look to 1.5 degrees as the temperature threshold. Whilst the most vulnerable countries have been championing this, the Saudi's blocked the talks both here and in other areas of discussion. Despite being the 13th richest country in the world they're also requesting technological support, which will take money way from the poorest countries for whom it is intended.

Work continues on the text of the agreement to incorporate the new bridging text (38 pages) into the compilation text (46 pages) ready for Ministers tomorrow afternoon.
