The International Climate Finance team is supporting the Government of Colombia in efforts to create a sustainable rural development initiative that aligns national objectives with the sustainable development and climate agenda. This work seeks to create incentives for intergovernmental cooperation amongst key ministers and national agencies to work together towards a single objective.
This initiative is expected to have a long term horizon and create a platform for dialogue amongst key national and international partners, generating clearer demand signals for climate and development finance in line with the new National Development Plan priorities. This could enable the alignment of national and international public finance flows to reduce fragmentation and increase effectiveness of action.
Building on E3G’s work on National strategic approaches to Climate Finance, the team is supporting this initiative with a focus on developing a strategic approach that facilitates the design of effective investment programmes and project pipelines that can tap national and international public finance resources, identify and promote market enabling conditions and strengthen country ownership.
