Action and Solidarity at COP21

Action and Solidarity at COP21

Today saw the largest civil society action so far within the conference centre at COP21.

NGOs, trade unions and young people came together with ministers of vulnerable nations to launch a powerful call for all ministers to deliver the means for a safe future in Paris.

The majority of countries have recognised here that 1.5°C is the only safe limit for vulnerable nations – but without a clear plan to step up current pledges, that solidarity rings hollow. To stand in solidarity countries must go beyond expressing solidarity – they have to deliver it in practice.

In the coming hours ministers need to secure a strong global goal of zero carbon by 2050, and agree to start raising ambition before 2020 and every 5 years after to ensure a safe future for us all.
