Today saw the largest civil society action so far within the conference centre at COP21.
NGOs, trade unions and young people came together with ministers of vulnerable nations to launch a powerful call for all ministers to deliver the means for a safe future in Paris.
The majority of countries have recognised here that 1.5°C is the only safe limit for vulnerable nations – but without a clear plan to step up current pledges, that solidarity rings hollow. To stand in solidarity countries must go beyond expressing solidarity – they have to deliver it in practice.
In the coming hours ministers need to secure a strong global goal of zero carbon by 2050, and agree to start raising ambition before 2020 and every 5 years after to ensure a safe future for us all.
