Senior Policy Advisor

Dominik is a Senior Policy Advisor based in Tokyo, working on advancing Japan’s energy transition, with a particular focus on trade and energy security.

In his role, Dominik engages with Japanese and international partners to develop strategic approaches that enhance Japan’s role in the clean energy transition while maintaining strong trade relations and energy security. His work includes analysing bilateral and multilateral trade relations, aligning energy security priorities with climate goals, and building new relationships with like-minded embassies and trade-promotion stakeholders.

Dominik has several years of experience at the intersection of the private and public sectors in Japan. He spent four years in trade and investment promotion, then worked closely with C-level executives at a major German automotive manufacturer, and later served at the Department for Economic, Scientific, and Climate Affairs at the German Embassy in Tokyo. He has extensive experience in balancing the interests of diverse stakeholders and maintaining a strong professional network across business, diplomatic, and government-affiliated communities in Japan.

Dominik holds an MA in East Asian Studies from the University of Vienna, Austria.

Outside of work, Dominik enjoys spending time outdoors, discovering new places, and has a strong passion for cars, particularly innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.

Dominik first came to Japan as an exchange student in 2015 for a year, returning in 2019 for work and has been living in Tokyo since then.
