In less than a week London Climate Action Week begins, a key moment in the global climate calendar. Starting this Saturday, 21 June, and running through to 29 June, the city will come alive with over 700 inspiring events driving climate action across London and internationally.
Building the politics of the necessary
With politics and geopolitics rupturing, E3G’s flagship event The State of Climate Politics Forum returns for the second year on 24 June at Mansion House to dissect why we still need to talk about climate and build the politics of the necessary for a safe climate for all. Hosting a special address from the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, high level speakers will address economics of the global energy transition and the politics of opportunity. Leading voices will come together to tackle big questions including: The New Geopolitics of Climate Action; The Public vs the Backlash; The 1.3tn Dollar Question; Powering Up Global Energy Goals; and How Hard Science Speaks to Politics. Growing climate action globally in London
Despite a tumultuous year for domestic and international politics, this year’s London Climate Action Week shows that climate action is happening. London Climate Action Week has doubled in size, and the growing platform demonstrates businesses, governments and communities coming together and showcasing the real clean economy and whole of society climate action in motion. Looking at our recent polling showing 97% of executives back a move away from fossil fuels to renewables, it’s no surprise that both businesses and individuals are showing up stronger than ever for climate action in London this year.
In 2025, we’ve also seen rapid growth in climate action weeks worldwide: from Sydney to Shanghai and Bangkok to Rio, at least 10 independent climate action weeks are bringing together communities, climate leaders, and changemakers to drive real impact. This is about generating climate action everywhere, all at once. It’s a distinctive local and regional complement to the annual COP in the global climate calendar.
On the road to COP30, Brazil and the UK are coming together in London with representatives from Australia, Barbados, California, Chile, Colombia, the EU, Germany, France, Indonesia, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia to build the necessary diplomacy and finance pathways for this critical year of ambition. As home to the largest concentration of climate professionals and practitioners in the world, London Climate Action Week provides an annual opportunity for people across sectors to come together to debate global and local solutions in the spirit of radical collaboration.
