With Climate Week NYC kicking off shortly alongside the ongoing UN General Assembly, E3G is pleased to share some of our programming for the week and offer comment on key moments for interested media.
- We have an expert team in New York all week who can provide insights and comment on the significant moments for diplomacy set out below.
- We are bringing together leaders across policy, industry, and finance around the issues central to our work in high-level convenings on energy security, electrification, adaptation, and mobilizing capital for the energy transition.
- We will also host specific dialogues on methane, the TAFF (transition away from fossil fuels) roadmap, the decline of oil demand and revenues (as per our Oil EndGame analysis), and will have specialists on the ground who can speak on these topics.

Monday, 21 September, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Securing the Offshore Clean Energy Frontier: Transatlantic Lessons on Energy Security, Dual-Use Infrastructure, and Risk Assessment. Co-hosted with the Oceantic Network, this roundtable will convene leaders from across the offshore clean energy sector to examine what the U.S. and Europe can learn from one another on energy security and dual-use infrastructure. Tuesday, 22 September, 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Global Renewables Summit Round-Table Discussion — Electrify Now: From Commitment to Implementation. A working discussion on turning renewable energy commitments into delivery on the ground. Wednesday, 23 September, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Mobilizing Private Capital for Clean Electrification— Perspectives from the Indo-Pacific . A flagship Climate Week event, co-hosted with The Asia Group, bringing together official sector representatives, business, and private-finance leaders with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific. Thursday, 24 September, 08:00 – 10:00 a.m. Adapting to the new climate reality: Why accelerating impacts demand new responses. Co-hosted with DanChurchAid, the UN Foundation, and the Talanoa Institute, this high-level panel aims to elevate adaptation and loss and damage on the political agenda. Convening champion countries, financiers, officials, and private-sector and civil-society leaders, it makes the case that scaling adaptation finance is a strategic imperative for stability, prosperity, and human security—and connects UN climate decisions to real implementation on the ground. Alongside our activities at Climate Week NYC and during UNGA, our curtain-raiser UNGA81 media advisory has called for leaders to step up and put climate at the center of their leadership through today’s accelerating crises.
We have a core team in New York all week who can provide insights and comment on the significant moments for diplomacy including:
- The UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Event on Climate and the Just Transition which should reinforce the need to accelerate implementation across the global energy transition, building on momentum around electrification and energy security developed through 2026, while highlighting the need to strengthen resilience to growing climate impacts and ensure the transition delivers for workers, communities and countries most exposed to climate risks.
- The Global Renewables Summit and wider clean electrification agenda which can demonstrate that the clean transition is already underway and that there are practical opportunities to move faster through greater domestic and international action to deploy renewables, commit to No New Coal, electrify transport, buildings and industry, boost grids deployment, and ultimately accelerate the orderly and equitable transition away from fossil fuels.
- The High-level Meeting on Sea-Level Rise which should set the scene for the Pre-COP in Fiji shortly afterwards, bringing Pacific priorities and the acute realities of sea-level rise, adaptation and resilience into sharper focus ahead of COP31. It must also demonstrate that sea-level rise is a systemic threat not just to small island states, but to all coastal communities worldwide, with risks to economies, critical infrastructure, defence assets, food security, displacement and international stability. Leaders should use the meeting to strengthen political recognition of these risks and build support for more accessible and scaled-up adaptation and resilience finance.
