Martin Rands

Martin’s career encompasses main board appointments in both privately-owned and publicly-quoted groups of companies, with a particular emphasis on marketing services, advertising and media ownership. It includes eight years as Group Finance Director of Osprey Communications PLC, then one of the UK’s top 30 integrated marketing services agencies, where his responsibilities included leading the group’s acquisition programme. He has many years of experience in corporate strategy, business development and company financing, and has had considerable involvement with successful start-up and fledgling companies.

Martin and his wife Liz reside in leafy Kew, have three daughters and two young grandchildren. An enthusiastic, but now resolutely retired cricketer, he still finds time to search the local parkland for small white balls, which he rescues and takes home with the aid of a heavy bag loaded with expensively crafted sticks. He is a keen musician and published songwriter, playing guitar and singing in two semi-professional local bands. His other pastimes include honing his already considerable barbecuing skills and continuing his lifelong search for the perfect pint. Despite his outwardly normal demeanour he has supported Crystal Palace Football Club, man and boy.

Martin is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and holds a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of Manchester.
