Martin Rands is E3G's Chief Operating Officer, having previously been Finance Director and Company Secretary. He is responsible for the internal "face" of E3G ensuring strong internal communications between E3G’s offices, project co-ordination and operational effectiveness. He retains his finance and governance responsibilities.
Martin’s career encompasses main board appointments in both privately-owned and publicly-quoted groups of companies, with a particular emphasis on marketing services, advertising and media ownership. It includes eight years as Group Finance Director of Osprey Communications PLC, then one of the UK’s top 30 leading integrated agencies, where his responsibilities included leading the group’s acquisition programme. He has many years of experience in corporate strategy, business development and financing and has had considerable involvement with successful start-up and fledgling companies.
Martin and his wife Liz reside in leafy Kew and have three daughters. He has finally been persuaded that his best days on the cricket pitch are behind him, but continues to rescue small white balls from local woodlands while carrying a heavy bag loaded with expensively crafted sticks. He is also a keen musician, playing guitar and singing in two semi-professional local bands. His other pastimes include honing his already considerable barbecuing skills and continuing his lifelong search for the perfect pint. Despite his outwardly normal demeanour he has supported Crystal Palace Football Club, man and boy.
Martin is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of Manchester.
