Mark Hagen
Senior Policy Advisor
Mark is a Senior Policy Advisor in E3G's Clean Economy team, working on driving E3G strategy to accelerate steel sector decarbonisation and transformation in Europe and beyond.

Mark is also Co-Convenor of the European Fossil Free Steel Network, an association of more than 70 civil society organisations working on greening the steel sector.
Before joining E3G, Mark worked for national and international trade unions for more than 20 years. This includes years of intense work on decarbonisation and just transition in the MENA region and Europe. His last roles were as Policy Advisor at the Just Transition Centre of the International Trade Union Confederations and as national coordinator of the German project “Revierwende” on restructuring former coal regions.
He originally studied history, moving on to complete a master in Labour Policies & Globalisation at the University of Kassel and Berlin School of Economics & Law focusing on mission renewal and learning change in organisations.
Beyond the office, Mark spends most of his time cycling and sometimes playing music.
