Louise Burrows works as a Policy Advisor supporting E3G’s activities supporting the transition away from fossil fuels, based in the London office. Her work focuses on how public policy and international diplomacy can support the shift from dirty coal to clean energy.
Prior to joining E3G, Louise worked for Ofgem. Her role within the Sustainable Energy Futures team involved carrying out the process of ‘Horizon Scanning’ to determine future energy system trends and drivers of change, used to inform policy.
She managed stakeholder engagement and developed an advanced understanding of UK and EU energy policy and systems. This followed a period of working for the Enforcement team, where her role involved the monitoring of compliance across the UK energy market and conducting investigations when potential breaches had occurred.
Louise holds a master’s degree in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam, specialising in climate change and sustainable development. Louise focussed her research on the role of development cooperation in phasing out fossil fuel use across developing countries, involving two months of fieldwork in New Delhi. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Durham.
