Laith’s is E3G’s lead on UK industrial transition and CCS and has a primary focus on reducing emissions in carbon-intensive manufacturing, such as steel and cement.

Laith is particularly interested in how these historically ‘dirty’ sectors will not only need to decarbonise to support our climate targets, but to fulfil their crucial role in the broader decarbonisation of the world’s economy and achieving a truly just transition.

Before joining E3G, he was Policy Principal at the Aldersgate Group, where he led the Group’s work on industrial decarbonisation, power transition, and ETS. He also spent time leading the environment and climate change programme at The Whitehall and Industry Group, and coordinating campaigns at political journal New Internationalist.

Laith is also Co-Founder and Chair of the BAME Climate Professionals Forum, a group championing ethnic diversity in climate and environment professions. 

Laith read Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Goldsmiths College, and in his spare time, enjoys making ceramics, playing music, and visiting art galleries.
