Hedwige Nuyens is Chair at E3G. She is the CEO of IBFed, leading global policy advocacy. She has extensive experience in finance and governance and champions gender diversity in leadership.

Hedwige Nuyens is a globally recognised leader with extensive experience in Strategy, Corporate Governance, Risk, Finance, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, and Digital Transformation.

Throughout her career, she has demonstrated the ability to forge strong relationships built on mutual respect, leading to consensus-building and win-win outcomes. Her leadership is characterised by a charismatic style, high energy, determination, the art of listening and the talent to uplift people.

Having lived and worked across multiple continents, Hedwige possesses a deep understanding of the importance of cultural insight, values, and beliefs. Her lifelong commitment to equality and inclusion fuels her passion for making a meaningful impact and contributing to a better world.

Hedwige Nuyens is the CEO of the International Banking Federation (IBFed), a representative body of key national banking associations, covering the banking industry across the world. Hedwige leads the IBFed’s policy advocacy, contributing to increase the effectiveness of the financial services industry’s response to the multilateral and national government issues at global level.

Prior to her current role, Hedwige held prominent positions as Head of Regulatory Affairs, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Risk Officer at major European banks.

Hedwige is deeply committed to pro bono work, such as promoting gender balance in corporate leadership and as a mentor to young talent. Currently, she serves as the Chair of European Women on Boards, a not-for-profit organisation advocating for gender diversity in executive committees and boardrooms. Her efforts were crucial in securing the approval of the EU Women on Boards Directive. Furthermore, she is a member of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council, both under Japanese and Italian Presidency.

Hedwige has been married for 37 years and is the proud mother of 3 children.

Hedwige holds a Law degree and a master’s in financial sciences from the Catholic University of Louvain, as well as a master’s in business administration and finance from EHSAL Brussels. She has also completed Master Classes on Digital Transformation at INSEAD, Sustainable Finance at Cambridge, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at MIT, and Cyber Security at Harvard.
