(Dr.) Martin Frick

Dr. Martin Frick serves as Director of the WFP Global Office for Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein since November 2021. Previously, he was the UN Secretary General’s Deputy Special Envoy for the Food Systems Summit 2021, and signed responsible for the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement as Senior Director of the UNFCCC Secretariat. As Climate Chief of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), he was a keen advocate of smallholder agriculture. As Program Director of Kofi Annan’s “Global Humanitarian Forum”, he put the narrative of climate justice on the international agenda. Frick was previously involved in the founding of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva for the German Federal Foreign Office, represented Germany on human rights issues in New York and was critical in building the UN’s Sustainability Hub in Bonn. Frick holds a doctorate in law and political science and has been a member of the Club of Rome since 2023.
