London supports the Energy Bill Revolution

Yesterday the London Assembly voted to support the Energy Bill Revolution, the E3G campaign calling on the UK Government to use carbon tax to make UK homes super energy efficient.

One of the world’s biggest cities is now in support of the world’s biggest alliance campaign to end fuel poverty.

The motion stated ‘This Assembly supports the Energy Bill Revolution campaign. We believe the Government should use the revenue from carbon taxes to help make more homes in London energy efficient’.

Ed Matthew, Director of the Energy Bill Revolution said

“UK homes are the most badly insulated in western Europe. As a result we have 25,000 people dying from the cold every year. It’s a national scandal. We must now make home energy efficiency the UK’s number one infrastructure investment priority. We can end fuel poverty, slash carbon emissions and create thousands of jobs. It’s a massive opportunity.”
