E3G's G7 Coal Scorecard was launched at the UNFCCC in Bonn on Wednesday 21st October. Media interest was immediate in Japan, the bottom-ranked country in our assessment. Canada too saw significant coverage as its new government considers ways of accelerating action on climate change. Back in the UK, the Financial Times contrasted the potential positive story on coal with the UK's current backsliding on renewables. While in the USA, the report was welcomed by Michael Bloomberg and 350.org among others.
