Klaus is a Senior Associate based in Berlin.

Klaus Mindrup

Klaus is a bridge builder between Europe, Germany and the U.S. in the interest of social climate action.

He was a member of the German Bundestag from 2013 to 2021, during which time he negotiated the German Climate Protection Act and other important legislation such as the Tenant Electricity Act and the Fuel Emissions Trading Act. He was also present at COP 21 when the landmark Paris Agreement was adopted. From 1999 to 2014, Klaus was a local politician in the Berlin district of Pankow. 

Klaus has a degree in biology with a specialization in ecology.

He has been active in the renewable energy movement since the mid-1980s, and served on the national board of the German Wind Energy Association from 2009 to 2012. 

In addition to the issues of environmental and climate protection, the topic of affordable housing is also important to Klaus, which is why he is involved in and for housing cooperatives in Berlin. 

He contributes his experience to the German Council for Citizen Energy. 

Klaus currently works as a consultant. He lives in a cooperative house in Prenzlauer Berg and finds relaxation in cycling tours in the Berlin countryside.
