James Hawkins joined E3G in October 2017 and works across the International Financial Institutions and Political Economy Mapping teams. His research focuses on how the finance sector can enable the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Prior to joining E3G, James worked as an analyst at Carbon Credentials, focussing on driving energy efficiency in the built environment, primarily in the Real Estate and Higher Education sectors. Whilst at Carbon Credentials he also undertook in-depth analysis on Display Energy Certificates and the UKCP09 climate projections.
James holds a Masters in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh. This provided high-level knowledge, skills and training in the business, economics, policy, and science of mitigating and adapting to climate change. For his Master's dissertation, James created a framework which detailed how climate change projections could be integrated into Red Cross Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments. Whilst on his Masters, James conducted a carbon footprint analysis and energy audit for a medical practice in conjunction with The Carbon Trust. James also has a BSc in Geography from the University of Birmingham.
