Emilie Kerstens

Emilie conducts research at the nexus of trade and climate. She engages with NGO partners, industrial stakeholders and policymakers on better aligning trade and climate policies. 

Before joining E3G, Emilie worked as a Research Assistant at the Center on Inclusive Trade and Development in Washington D.C., where she remains an affiliated researcher. She was previously a fellow at the Institute of International Economic Law and a student lecturer at Maastricht University. Emilie has also completed internships at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the New Markets Lab in Washington D.C., and Afore Consulting in Brussels. 

Emilie obtained her LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law and specialized Certificate in WTO and International Trade Studies from Georgetown University Law Center with distinction. She also holds an LL.M. in International Law and an LL.B. in European Law from Maastricht University cum laude.

Emilie is Belgian and Dutch and she has lived in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the United States. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new places and spending time with her cats.
