Watch the recording of the pre-COP27 press briefing
This year’s COP27 takes place against the backdrop of multiple crises facing countries globally. The Russia/Ukraine war, the food and energy crisis, as well as the economic outlook and lingering covid impacts, have shaken governments. The Egyptian presidency has called for ‘no backsliding’ on previous pledges.
This pre COP27 briefing and Q&A will explore:
- Loss and Damage – the extent to which this will dominate talks at COP27 and the proposals outlined by vulnerable countries.
- Diplomatic tensions, potential for cooperation across climate, energy and food crises.
- Finance -the Bridgetown Initiative, status of the $100bn pledge, potential shifts in funding and finance for developing countries.
