Cities drive global progress in decarbonisation and resilience

Cities – and sub-national actors in general – are important political actors and delivery agents in the transition to a low carbon and resilient economy. They are home to the majority of the world’s inhabitants, engines of GDP growth, and active in decarbonisation efforts. Given their exposed role, it is in everybody’s interest to ensure that they have sufficient powers and resources to manage their transition and cope with the strain of climate change.

E3G’s focuses on highlighting cities experiences, potential and ambition in driving the energy transition and to increase their voice in national, European and international debates. E3G works directly with cities at the local level, engages in strategic partnerships to develop industrial and financing strategies, addresses cities’ climate risks, and advocates the role of cities in the European Adaptation Strategy and the Energy Union framework.
