Lionel Ameis

Senior Researcher

Lionel Ameis is a Senior Researcher within the Political Economy and Governance (PEG) team in Brussels. Lionel conducts research and analysis into threats and barriers to global climate action to ensure a rapid and resilient transition towards a climate safe common future.

Lionel Ameis

Lionel works across multidisciplinary areas, including fuel transition, climate finance and sustainable economy. He primarily contributes to understanding the intersection between global climate politics, hard and soft corruption and the undermining of democratic norms and principles, in order to support climate progress. Lionel will also contribute to the development of E3G’s work on mapping political economies across the G20 and more widely.

Prior to joining E3G, Lionel worked for a Brussels based strategic communications firm, advising clients on communication strategies and stakeholder engagement with European Union institutions. Before that, he worked for the European External Action Service, the United Nations, and the German Foreign Office.

Lionel holds an M.A. in International Peace & Security from King’s College London, previously having earned a B.A. degree in International Studies from Leiden University.

Lionel loves the outdoors and likes to run, swim, or play tennis in his free time. He also has a passion for skiing, scuba diving, and is currently learning to sky dive.
