Izumi Kotani

Junior Researcher

Izumi Kotani is a Junior Researcher for E3G’s Coal Transition team. Her role focusses on supporting coal transition activities in Japan and South Korea.

Izumi Kotani

Izumi carries out and communicates evidence-based research on coal-related developments in Japan and South Korea relevant for coal transition projects. As part of this work, she builds and maintains internal and external partnerships.

Prior to joining E3G, Izumi carried out research on Japan’s nuclear policy and its energy transition driven by local renewable energy projects.

Izumi is a Master of Public Policy candidate at the Hertie School in Berlin and graduated from International Christian University in Tokyo with a focus on International Relations and Anthropology.

In her spare time, Izumi enjoys travelling as well as taking nature, street and food photography.
