Gyorgyi Gurban is the Ecosystem Programme officer of UNEP-MAP (Mediterranean Action Plan of the United National Environment Programme) in Athens.
During 2012-2013 Gyorgyi was the E3G Brussels Head of Office, focused on elaborating and animating a coherent EU energy and climate security strategy and the decarbonisation of the European power sector.
Previously, Gyorgyi was the climate change attaché of Hungary, leading the climate work of the EU Presidency team and negotiating in the Council of the EU on behalf of her country. She also worked as a policy officer in the European Commission, where she lead the multilateral processes team of DG Environment, preparations on CSD, Rio+20, next to drawing up and co-managing international programmes in the field of Sustainable Consumption and Production, such as SWITCH Asia. Prior to that, Gyorgyi gathered experience at the Legal Service of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, at the Climate Unit of the Hungarian Ministry of Environment and at Allen and Overy Law Firm.
Gyorgyi has a JD from Pazmany Peter Law School, an LLM in International Law from Tulane Law School and an MSc in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco.
