Highlights of the Summit include:

Keynote address by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias and other global leaders

Presentations by senior representatives from the public and private sectors

Panel discussions on renewable energy, carbon trading, resource nationalism, future of petroleum, clean coal and the nuclear option

An EU-Mediterranean 2020 Partnership to jointly achieve at least 20% energy savings and generate 20% of energy from renewable sources—by the year 2020.


A partnership is proposed between EU countries and non-EU Mediterranean countries including Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Egypt, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestinian Territory, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey
