European Parliament Hearing: Towards a common foreign policy on energy?
By Jennifer Morgan
Tomorrow, 28th February, the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs is holding hearings on Europe’s External Energy Policy.
Currently Europe does not act as one when it comes to relations with third countries. The Committee will assess the current situation and suggest potential ways forward.
The hearing is entitled Towards a common European foreign policy on energy?, and forms part of the lead-up to the March Heads of State discussions on the Strategic Energy Review.
E3G’s Jennifer Morgan will be contributing on the topic The CFSP and energy security: is a common European foreign policy on energy the way forward?
The slides from Jennifer’s presentation are attached for download.
Update, 6th March. The hearing documents on Europe External Energy Policy are now available on the European parliament website. A report of the hearing is also available. Jennifer was quoted and warned on climate conflicts:
Climate change affects every EU policy, get it wrong and everything will go wrong for EU foreign policy.”
