We’re pleased to announce that the launch of the new E3G pamphlet ‘Europe in the World: Political choices for security and prosperity’ will take place in Brussels on Monday 11th December.
Margot Wallström, Vice-President of the European Commission will speak at the event, which will be held from 6pm at The Centre.
The event will start with a presentation by the co-authors of the pamphlet: Nick Mabey, Chief Executive, E3G; former adviser to Tony Blair and Tom Burke, Founding Director, E3G; Environmental policy adviser to Rio Tinto plc.
Responses to the pamphlet will follow from three discussants:
Margot Wallström, Vice-President, European Commission
John Ashton, Special Representative for Climate Change, UK Foreign Office
Corrado Clini, Director General, Italian Ministry for Environment
The discussion will be chaired by Paul Adamson of The Centre
The event will be held at The Centre, 22 Avenue Marnix, 1000 Brussels on Monday December 11 2006 from 6.00 pm (prompt) to 8.00 pm. A question and answer session will be followed by a reception.
The ‘Europe in the World’ pamphlet argues that Europeans must make new political choices if they are to ensure their security and prosperity in an interdependent world. Amongst other things, the pamphlet looks at the EU’s relationship with China; the twin threats of climate security and energy security; Europe’s unjustified lack of economic confidence; and the central role to be played by the renewal of European democracy.
The event is open to all, but registration is required. To register, please send an email to with ‘Europe in the World’ in the subject field and stating clearly your name and organisation.
Further events related to the pamphlet will follow in the New Year.
