Matthew FindlayMatt Findlay leads E3G’s work to help deliver an ambitious “Global Climate Deal” in 2009-10. He joined E3G in February 2008 on secondment from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. His responsibilities include developing a road-map for E3G's climate security work over the next two years, building and managing relationships with E3G’s partners inside and outside government, and working with partners to promote informed debate and action on climate change in priority countries.

Matt has 15 years professional experience in the international affairs field, both as a diplomat and with non-governmental organisations. As part of the FCO’s Directorate for Strategy and Innovation he helped to prepare a White Paper on UK International Priorities and to translate this into an agenda for organisational change. His diplomatic career has also included work on migration policy and conflict prevention, as well as a posting to the British Embassy in Bangkok.

Before joining the FCO, Matt worked at the Ford Foundation in New York, helping to define and implement grant-making initiatives in the field of international affairs. He also worked for CARE International in Niger (West Africa) and held short-term positions at the World Bank and the European Commission. He holds an MPA from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and a BA (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) from St. Catherine’s College, Oxford.

In addition to his work with E3G Matt serves as a Trustee of The Forgiveness Project, a UK-based charity that explores forgiveness, reconciliation and conflict resolution through real-life human experience.
