Associate, European Climate and Energy Security

Mark JohnstonMark Johnston joined E3G as an Associate in January 2008 to support our work on European energy and climate security, in particular the acceleration of Europe’s strategy on carbon capture and storage.

For a decade prior to this, Mark worked in several positions with Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, originally in London and more recently in Brussels. Throughout, his focus has been on using research, advocacy and communications to advance environmental interests in debates about the public law, regulation, and policy reform of the energy sector.

Included amongst his recent EU projects have been the harmonisation of rules of nuclear decommissioning finance, state aid reform in the coal mining sector, and certain energy aspects of the EU’s new Lisbon treaty.

Mark’s non-work interests include cycling, mountaineering, reading and music.
