Job opportunity: Internship with E3G Finance Programme

E3G is seeking an intern to join the London team for 4 months (full time) to assist with the work of E3G’s Finance Programme. There may be a possibility of moving to a full role in 2016.

Since 2012 E3G has been pioneering the need for countries to develop National Finance Strategies (NFS) that identify financing options and pathways that deploy climate finance most effectively to mobilise public and private sources in the short, medium and long term. In general, working towards a finance strategy will enhance country ownership and ensure effective use of international resources by bringing together decision-makers from government, finance, industry, think-tanks and civil society to consider issues at the interface of climate related goals, economic and financial reform. E3G is working in collaboration with the governments of Mexico, Chile and Colombia on strategic approaches for financing climate and sustainable development objectives.

There will be an immediate set of tasks to undertake around:

  • Analytical research on climate finance and institutions at the national and international level, including the role of different finance sector actors (development banks, commercial banks, insurance, investment) the Green Climate Fund, national climate change funds and other multilateral funds and processes in plugging gaps and delivering an effective ecosystem for climate finance
  • Analytical research on emerging innovative financing mechanisms to scale up renewable energy, finance on adaptation and resilience and supporting policies
  • Extracting key themes and insights by applying frameworks to evaluate the evidence systematically
  • Looking for the bigger picture and strategic implications
  • Presenting your findings and seeking input from experts within E3G
  • Assisting team members with preparing reports, briefings and presentations for a range of policy, financial and technical audiences to ensure that your research has an impact in the international climate finance arena

Ideally you will have research or work experience of the challenges specific to Latin American countries and/or Europe. You are comfortable with complex research projects and have good numeracy skills. The work you will undertake will make full use of your analytical, research and communication skills. In turn, we will support and guide you to undertake this work effectively.
