imageMonica is Costa Rican and started working on sustainability issues in 1991 covering various sectors and countries: The Costa Rican government, Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) and Climate Change Capital. She joined E3G to lead work on low-carbon development and finance in pioneering developing countries.

She has worked as a consultant to several organizations and has published 35+ articles with a focus on developing countries.  She speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. She studied Economics obtaining a Masters in Economic Policy (National University of Costa Rica) and Masters and PhD in environmental management (Yale University).

Monica is currently part of the Costa Rican climate negotiations team.
