imageJonathan Gaventa joined E3G in October 2009 as a researcher focusing on decarbonising the EU power sector. His current work focuses on the infrastructure required for decarbonisation, including a European electricity Supergrid. He has also conducted analysis on low carbon investment needs in the EU, electricity market reform and the role of Emissions Performance Standards.

Prior to joining E3G, he worked as a Sustainable Development Policy Officer for the Greater London Authority, where he coordinated the London Sustainable Development Commission’s work on sustainable consumption and production. 

He has also worked as a researcher for the London Assembly Green Group and as a lobbyist and researcher for the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety. 

He completed an MSc in Environmental Change and Management at the Environmental Change Institute in the University of Oxford in 2008, and a BA in Social and Political Sciences at King’s College, Cambridge University in 2002. 

Outside the office, he spends as much of his spare time as possible in the hills, and is an enthusiastic cyclist, rock climber and mountaineer.
